Staying Positive

It amazes me as humans how we can really focus on the negative in our life, worry about things until it makes us ill, stress so much that we end up on medication, yet we let a lot of the everyday beauty pass us by... Waiting around for that huge positive thrill that in most cases is impossibly out of reach!
It's easy to say, don't sweat the small stuff, focus on the positive... Etc... But how can we change our perspective permanently? Everyone is different, but here's a simple task that most of us can do, to help us on our way...
The next time you are at the shops or purchasing online, choose yourself a notebook, journal or writing pad of some kind and a new pen. Keep them in a place that is easily accessible. Each day, find a moment to write down at least 1 thing that makes or made you feel positive, keep it simple to start with... It could be a stranger smiling on the bus, a flower in bloom in your favourite colour, the warmth of the sun on your back... Then end with amazing things that have happened that day... A lotto win, a visit from an old friend... Success in the workplace. Somedays you may only write very simple things, others may fill a page! Make sure you end your notes with thanks, 'thank you for my positive day.' Even when days seem far from happy, I can guarantee you will be able to find something that you can write and watch the smile appear on your face when you do! xx
